New features at OSDEV Community website Print
Wednesday, 21 June 2006
To solve a previous request of our members, namely free web hosting for their project and personal information, we mixed different ideas under the new roof of OSDEV Community, the Mambo system. As of today, each member is able to host his/her own pages within the Community's site. More interesting to those willing to make an online presence for their operating systems, combined with the download feature of the site, you will be able to achive this free of charge and with some good startup traffic.

The new service can be used by any member of the OSDEV Community website; a new button was added to your User Menu (bottom-right of the screen) named "Edit My Pages". After clicking it, the following screens are self-explainatory and is fairly simple to create a set of member pages.

The output, the pages, are accessible through the "Member Pages" button from the Main Menu, listed on a user basis. Most updated pages are always displayed on top.

Since we don't want to turn this into a law book, I will simply enumerate the terms of service:

1. The "Member Pages" service is available to ANY REGISTERED member of OSDEV Community
2. After submitting your content you are still the sole holder of the rights upon it. If you feel uncertain about this, feel free to add a copyright notice in the footer of your pages.
3. The service can be used to publish both personal information (about yourself, family, friends etc) and professional information (your osdev and non-osdev related projects etc).
4. The content must not be offensive (pornography, drugs, hate speech, alcohol, tobacco, violence etc).
5. You may not publish, distribute, or otherwise copy in any manner content that is protected by copyright laws unless: it belongs to you, you have express permission from the author or you are otherwise permitted by established United States copyright law to copy the work in that manner.
6. OSDEV Community reserve the right to terminate the service without any notice in case of malicious use of the service.

That would be all, enjoy the new service! :-)
