Re: New Osdev portal - 2006/04/02 00:52 Lasttime ww2.sysbin.com can not download more than one page from osdcom.info per one try. Have you some limits (because i think when all well sysbin connects with osdcom around 90-100 per day) or what may be ?

Re: New Osdev portal - 2006/04/03 02:13 Hmmm, please keep an eye on it.

We had some downtime last week, maybe that was the problem. I don't recall setting any limits for any of the layers involved in the HTTP protocol for this machine.

Thanks for pointing the problem.

Re: New Osdev portal - 2006/04/03 09:08 Yep, I actually isolated the crash problem on our side and everything is OK right now.

I wonder where the data and color scheme came from....Maybe from the past???

You could have at least changed my CSS names... If anyone is interested in the real current list it's here: http://www.osdev.org/wiki/index.php/Projects

Re: New Osdev portal - 2006/06/24 02:50 Hi Chase,

We are glad to have you here as a member. I'm also glad you incorporated your old project into the new wiki system you're maintaining at osdev.org; wiki are definitely a much better solution for this purpose, but years ago when you started the green list the technology was in its "dark ages"

However, I do appreciate Dakman's contribution, as I belive he has no problem respecting YOUR initial good work and the fact that YOU was the one whom started the project.

Re: New Osdev portal - 2006/06/24 09:54 Hello Chase,
as a user of osdev.net for years now, I of course did recognized your old project list when it was posted here. The only reason I didn't intervene though, is that I basically assumed that the owner of the new portal had some agreement with you. After all such a cooperation would also have helped *him* to delovelop his site and to promote the portal..

Given that parts of the site really are a 1:1 rip-off of your old code, and that it cause unnecessary traffic to your site by not using the RSS system and updating its internal lists way too often, you probably have any legitimation to ban it right away.
Nevertheless I'm wondering if it wouldn't be smarter if you at least tried to find some "peacefull" solution first: You could just contact the site's admin, demanding that the issue get sorted out in say 4 weeks - if he doesn't respond to your mail, you can still block the site's IP..

Also keep in mind that the site is russian and that they might just have some more ehm.. "relaxed" idea about copy-right and intellectual property. If it really is a cultural misunderstanding they should respond to your mail.

Either way I hope this gets sorted out somehow..

regards,
gaf
