Does it make any difference if i'll learn x386 assembly? - 2005/07/15 09:56 Hi im new to osdev and started to learn assembly.
I saw in an earlier Thread this site
http://www.drpaulcarter.com/pcasm/.
The book of this site teaches x386 assembly.
Does it make any difference if i'll learn x386 assembly and not x86 assembly???

Hope's to Learn Alot from this site.

Re: Does it make any difference if i'll learn x386 assembly? - 2005/07/15 10:59 What that book is for is 32bit pmode, as you need a 386 PC or above for 32bit pmode, so unless you have a old 286 PC you will be fine.
I think you may be better starting with a real mode tut for Dos, as that is where most people start asm coding.

So if you miss out the 286, then 386 & x86 are the same thing.
