Forum width - 2005/05/13 07:36 As the subject indicate, I wonder why you changed the width? I think it's too small right now.
And another thing, the page loading can take up to 10s for each page sometimes, which is really annoying. Slow server, or other reasons?

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/20 07:36 This site is very functional and all, but the design is not that great. Using the standard theme?

Anyway, I got links to some much nicer e107 themes that might suit you, with some minor work.

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/20 10:24 I really like the first theme, although they have obviously stolen the trion symbol - maybe I should just sue seren7 for a few million dollars

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/20 13:17 yeah, the first one was my favorite too..
But of course osdcom needs it's own logo.

So what does the admin(s) think?

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/20 15:02 Hello guys,

Everything is already in my plans, in fact I already built a new theme and logo. The new logo is the favourite/shortcut icon on the site.

However, I have a big problem on FireFox, although I'm a FireFox developer. The issue is inside the JS scripts brought by e107 and I'm working on this.

JavaScript has a very weird behaviour on different browsers, I'd say that more different than CSS/xHTML parsing.

As about the width, I'll fix it along with the new theme. Bubach, thanks for the theme suggestions but I think you will like the new look.

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/23 07:42 I agree with bubach, the new design is just great !

Please do not hestitate to post your comments on this article as I'm really curious about your opinions and suggestions!

Some small questions/suggestions:
* The contents in the main column doesn't span the whole element's width but leaves some free space to the right. Is this on purpose ?
* Maybe I'd look better if the background of the element surounding the google links was also all blue
* In the links section each sites address is explicitly given which is a bit redundant since there's also the link
* (Also in the link section) I'd probably a good idea to give both, the link icons and the referrals part of the header, a fixed width for a more uniform appearance of the listed links
* I fancy links without an underscore. This is however just my personal idea and it might be that the links are then sometimes hard to identify as sich because they look too much like normal text. Just try it out and see how it looks..

I hope this doesn't sound too critical now because I really do like the design..

gaf

Re: Forum width - 2005/05/23 17:00 I just noticed that the first problem doesn't appear with ie6 and is thus just a compatibility problem with my browser (opera 8). I'll have a look at the site's code and see if I can fix it myself, otherwise don't worry: It's not a very big problem and after all I'm probably the only visitor of this site using opera anyway..

I've uploaded some screens here so that you at least know what I mean.

gaf
