YASM - 2005/05/11 12:16 I heard about a new asm IDE called yasm a complete re-write of nasm. If anyone knows anything about yasm or tutorials for it you can email me at treymonty@gmail.com or put it on the forum at http://bootsectoros.asmhackers.net/board/index.php

Thanks!!!

Re: YASM - 2005/05/12 18:18 The yasm site is: http://www.tortall.net/projects/yasm/
Yasm code to read is quite similar to NASM (intel syntax etc) and it's opensource under the BSD license.
The site when I last looked had quite a bit of information on it and how to program in it.
Personally I'm a NASM guy but thats probably just because I don't have the time to investigate YASM and as far as I'm concerned NASM is working well enough for my purposes (using the if it's not broke why fix it philosophy). But it might be you prefer YASM so if you have the time feel free to experiment with it.

(I know you asked to reply to you else where than on this forum but someone else might be reading the forum with a similar question so I believe in replying in the same place the question was asked)

Re: YASM - 2005/09/16 14:47 Isn't there a 'compiler' without the sm part and satanic tortall way of thinking? Are muslim and jews right about this 'modern world'?

Re: YASM - 2005/09/16 14:59 I use Netwide, it even supports 64-bit, the part I can't use for my processor (for now). If switching to a different compiler would be an issue, p.a. something with an extended way of preprocessor, I would go for fasm probably. I'm just loud thinking here... I do not even use all of the preprocessor 'functions' that Netwide offers. I understood that Flatassembler has 'better' or more extended preprocessor support, p.a. an object-form of assembly-programming, a bit C++ like...And for some it may be good knowing that it is written in assembly, not c, like p.a. yasm is done, this would be an advantage programming real large 'appz'/'OS-like' thingies.
